The most common tool used in chronic disease self‑management is action planning, which supports clients in taking concrete steps toward behaviour change, enhancing their wellbeing, and increasing engagement in their care. However, for clients who are neurodivergent, traditional action‑planning approaches can feel overwhelming, inaccessible, or ineffective.
This Lunch & Learn will explore the unique challenges neurodivergent clients may face with conventional action plans and introduce alternative strategies that better align with neurodivergent needs, including supports for executive functioning. We will also discuss strength‑based, collaborative approaches that honour client autonomy and build on existing capacities.
Living Healthy Champlain offers workshops for health care professionals that will help them to support their patients in making behaviour changes based on their own motivations, and empower them to self-manage their chronic conditions.
