Trauma-informed care is a framework that can improve
physical and mental health outcomes while minimizing the trauma-evoking aspects
of care. This approach is empirically supported and has been adopted in many
behavioural health settings. In
healthcare settings, there are many opportunities to adopt or deepen the use of
trauma-informed care, which benefits both
the client and the provider. In this Lunch
and Learn session, definitions, guiding principles and ways to approach the
subjects of trauma and trauma-informed care will be covered, with opportunity
for individual reflection and group discussion.
Living Healthy Champlain offers workshops for health care professionals that will help them to support their patients in making behaviour changes based on their own motivations, and empower them to self-manage their chronic conditions.
