Looking after our health is important, but sometimes it can seem very complicated.
All the sessions are hands-on and presented by trained facilitators in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Living Healthy Champlain.
Each session will be 1.5 hours long. There will be a break for refreshments.
There will be lots of opportunities to join in and learn together. These four sessions will give you the skills to:
Session 1: Understand your food labels - September 15th, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Learn how to navigate food marketing like “reduced sugar” “low fat” “no GMOs” “sodium free”. Make an educated and informed choice by understanding the label.
Session 2: Understand your medication - September 22nd, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Do you occasionally forget to take your medication? Do you understand the precautions and side effects? Managing your medication correctly can be overwhelming and time consuming. Learn how to better manage and make the most of the medication you are taking.
NOTE: Participants are encouraged to bring their medication to the workshop.
Session 3: Understanding Blood Pressure- September 29th, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Learn more about what blood pressure is, how we can reduce our risks of getting high blood pressure and how we can manage it better if we do.
Session 4: Understanding Stress and Sleep- October 6th, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
We all get stressed sometimes; learn more about what happens in our bodies when we are stressed, get some tips for managing stress and getting a good night's sleep.
